Validation
The age of social media has brought this cloud over everyone that if they don’t get a certain amount of likes on a photo then they are ugly or not popular. I personally never cared how many likes or reactions I get on any post. What I care about on any of my posts is pure conversation. Conversation can create something magical. Conversations open doors to new friendships, partnerships, etc. What do likes give you? Oh, for that brief moment you feel special because 50 people, 100 people, 1 thousand people, 10 million people thought you were funny or cute the way you posed in a picture or video. You love that validation don’t you?! I LOVE that Instagram is taking down the “Like” feature. This isn’t the fall of the mighty app… no, I believe it will bring a change to people using the app. People will learn to not care about the likes and post genuine content that is quality based. Also, I think that those that are just doing it for the likes are going to get fed up and either complain and form a stupid petition or they will leave the app giving space for those that want to actually be creative can thrive.
